About UNILAG CGPA

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) operates a 5.0 CGPA scale across all undergraduate faculties. Your CGPA is the weighted average of all course grade points multiplied by their credit units, divided by your total credit units passed. This calculator uses the official UNILAG grading scale published in the student handbook, including the resit and carry-over rules used by the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and the College of Medicine.

How UNILAG Grades Courses

UNILAG uses a 5-point grade scale: A (70–100) = 5 points, B (60–69) = 4 points, C (50–59) = 3 points, D (45–49) = 2 points, E (40–44) = 1 point, and F (below 40) = 0 points. Your Grade Point Average for a semester is the sum of (grade points × credit units) for every course you took that semester, divided by the total credit units. Your Cumulative GPA aggregates this across every semester from 100 level to your current level. Pre-degree, foundation and remedial programmes are not counted.

Carry-Over Rules at UNILAG

A UNILAG carry-over is triggered by a grade of F (below 40) in any course. The course must be repeated when next offered. Failed core courses must be cleared before graduation; the new score replaces the old in CGPA computation. Students with CGPAs below 1.0 for two consecutive semesters face academic withdrawal under UNILAG senate policy.
