About UI on CampusTutor
The University of Ibadan (UI) — Nigeria's premier university — uses a distinctive 7-point grading scale. Many UI undergraduates also encounter a 4-point CGPA scale for postgraduate study. This calculator uses UI's authoritative 7-point undergraduate scale per the current Examinations and Records office guide.
UI Grading System
UI undergraduate grading: A (70–100) = 7 points, B (60–69) = 6 points, C (50–59) = 5 points, D (45–49) = 4 points, E (40–44) = 3 points, F (below 40) = 0 points. CGPA is computed as the weighted average across credit units. Postgraduate programmes at UI use a 4-point scale (A=4, B=3, C=2, F=0). The classification boundaries differ — confirm with your department before extrapolating from undergraduate ranges.
Carry-Over Rules
A failure (below 40) in any UI course mandates a re-sit when next offered. UI senate policy requires students to clear all carry-overs before final-year project supervision. Two-consecutive-semester CGPA below 1.5 (7-point scale) places a student on academic probation. Withdrawal becomes formal at a CGPA below 1.0 for three consecutive semesters.
